Stunning & rare Chinese ginger jar with pattern of phoenix among cloud scrolls. A triangular work diaper pattern circle the shoulder above the “Ju-I” shaped lappets. A wave pattern boarder is painted above the base and a heringbone diaper pattern on the top under the lid completes this well executed pattern. This jar dates from the “Tung Chih” (1862-1875) period of the Ching Dynasty. It has 2 blue circles on the base. It comes with an ornately carved wooden lid. No apparent chips or cracks. Excellent condition. Has slight glaze cracks & 2 very minor flaws. An oustanding piece.
