Striking Chinese blue & white jar with wooden lid. This design of storage jar is often referred to as Canton Ware dating from the Qianlong period 1736-1795. Depicted in vivid blue the rural
scene is peculiar to this period – a farm scene with mountains in the background and a fisherman and his home in the foreground. Mountains are symbolic of places of worship, rest and retreat from the world. No apparent chips or cracks. Excellent condition. Has a wooden lid.
