Tasmania has a wild and natural beauty about it, from the central highlands , lakes and mountains through to the moss covered rain forests then on to the rugged cliffs and white sands of it’s coast line. All of this i have tried to capture in my paintings. While travelling, I take photographs of scenes that interest me, at various locations; from around Launceston to Cradle Mountain and Lake St. Clair to the Gordon River and Bicheno on the east coast. I then work from these photographs to bring them to life on a canvas. My interest is drawn to the different lightings and moods of the Tasmanian landscape, and I feel that I can create a reflection of these ideas in my paintings using a palette knife, where I can put down my vision in paint more closely and faster than by using a brush.
