Paintings take a long time to evolve. Beginning with some glimpse usually to do with the reflection of light, the source of inspiration is often visited several times. Working mostly in my Longford (Tasmania) studio, much time is spent in composing each picture prior to painting. Sometimes studies are painted prior to a larger work.
I watch the whole evolution of the painting, finding beauty. I believe beauty cannot be owned or claimed, it is merely discovered and passed on. I think I am most fortunate to partake in the phenomenon.
Enjoying quietness in the craft, I wish the pictures to uplift in some way. What the viewer enjoys comes from within them. My wish is that such value grows.
Painting in silence, the exercise for me is to find silence. The subject is for me is silence.
